I believe very strongly in fair trade. I believe everyone should get payed for their labor and for the amount of the product they are buying. It seems in society that people are always in it for the money, and they are stealing money from workers who actually need money to live day to day. If someone is going to make something and sell it, they deserve to sell it for the amount it is worth and for labor. America seems to rip people off, we buy products such as coffee for really cheap from farmers, and sell it for more than it is worth, and they keep the profit.
Buying fair trade helps over 800,000 farmers. When you buy fair trade you are helping farmers provide basic needs for their families and they can invest in communities. A lot of farmers sell to both fair trade and non fair trade companies because there are not enough fair trade buyers for farmers to make a living on.
Everyone can do their part in helping out the people who help make our lives easier. We as country seem to take for granted other countries who are making things we use everyday. It is only fair that we pay the amount a product actually is. Just because a country has more money than another country does not make it right to basically steal from them. We would not have half the items and products we do if these people did not do manual labor to create these products.
Fair Trade not only gives farmers what they deserve for their products, but it creates a safe and clean working environment for the workers. Everything that is fair trade has a logo on it and says fair trade. I believe we should all be aware of what is going on in our world and what we are buying. You may be buying clothes that children are making in horrible working conditions and getting payed $1.00 a day. Most clothes made in any Latin American country is not fair trade and the working conditions are terrible. I believe we should be more aware of human rights and create a country where everyone is created equal both in it and outside of it.
