One person that I respect is my friend JJ. He and I have known eachother since fifth grade. We live on the same street, so it has been very easy for us to maintain our friendship for these 7 years. Towards the end of this past year at high school, he found out that he was going to fail a course required for graduation. At first he took this news very badly and pretty much refused to talk to anybody. However, he eventually accepted the fact that he would not be graduating with our class. Now, JJ isn't necessarily the biggest "school person", but the actions he took over this summer showed me a lot about his character. He talked to his guidance counselor and worked out a plan that would have him receive his diploma by the end of this semester. Once that happens, he plans to enroll in a community college for the second semester, and proceed to transfer to a four-year college at the start of next year. The reason that I respect this so much is that it would have been very easy to simply accept not graduating. There are plenty of people who took that path. But instead of taking the easy way out, he decided to go back to school and do what he needs to do in order to get his diploma and continue on to college.
